On July 6th, 2008, the state of Indiana realizes the immediate need to try compete with other casino facilities in neighboring states. Gaming expansion is happening all over the U.S. and the fierce competition for gaming dollars is growing. Indiana has just approved a new rule that could help attract VIP players into the state's casinos.
Junketeers will be required to lower their registration costs and will also not be allowed to hold a casino supplier license. Junketeers are organizations that make casino trips and then earned based on how much cash the customers spend. It is a practice that usually takes VIP players to Las Vegas and Mississippi.
The state Gaming Commission's Deputy Director, Jennifer Arnold commented that their casino establishments are becoming more resort-style establishments. Their main goal is to attract more customers from out of state and to increase the number of VIP players. The new rule will be implemented immediately under an emergency rule.
A public hearing will take place on July 29th, 2008, after which the law will become permanently enforced. The licensing cost change should help casino facilities earn more.
The new cost of $250 will be closer to other casino facilities around the country charge. That fee is significantly lower from the old cost of $5,000.
