Iowa Casinos Experience a Drop in their Profits for the 2007-2008 Fiscal Year

On July 22nd, 2008, after a good string of lucky sevens, the casino facilities in Council Bluffs are experiencing a bad roll over the past year. Gross gaming revenues during the past twelve months slide down for the first time ever for the three casino establishments. Combined revenues of the three casinos had always improved since the casino facilities opened to the public a few years ago.

The Horseshoe casino and the Harrah's blamed the dropped on profits on the weak economy and the non-stop rise of gasoline prices. But the casino profits in Iowa have increased as a whole. The Horseshoe casino, the Ameristar Casino and Harrah's Casino have stated a total gaming revenue of $474.29 million in the fiscal year of 2007-2008, which ended on June 30th. That was a 1.3% down slide from the $480.33 million in revenue collected from the casinos during the 2006-2007 fiscal year.

Each of the three Bluffs casino establishments had experience a dropped in their revenues. But the Horseshoe casino remained the No.1 casino in the state for profit, followed by the Prairie Meadows in Des Moines. Next came the Ameristar casino and Harrah's casinos.
